It’s a grey day so I’m trying to get to grips with grisaille, only Payne’s Grey is more blue than grey in these 20-minute studies…
Tonal study collage is another way to think of the subject in terms of shapes and tones. Here I’ve coloured tracing paper with 4 tones of marker plus one sheet with no colour for my lightest tone. Then I cut or tear the paper in the shapes of the main areas of tone and glue them down.
